Amsterdam | Full-time or part-time | €2,900 to €3,500 gross per month | Dutch required
For a well-known and characterful hospitality venue on the Amstel, we are looking for an Assistant Restaurant Manager. A versatile management position in which you lead a large team daily, are responsible for the smooth running of operations, and actively contribute to the development of the organization.
You will end up in a special place where Amsterdam has been coming together for generations.
In the morning, the first regular guests come in for coffee and breakfast. Around lunchtime, the place fills up with local residents and business guests. On sunny days, the large terrace on the Amstel fills up early, and later the relaxed atmosphere effortlessly transitions into a lively dinner and a pleasant drink.
The rich history, the characterful interior, and the location on the water make this location special. Yet the atmosphere is anything but formal. Here, it’s all about quality, personal attention, and hospitality that feels genuine.
Despite the size of the restaurant, the working atmosphere remains personal. Many guests have been returning for years, and there are also many familiar faces within the team. Hard work is required, but there is always room for humor, sociability, and attention to each other.
As Assistant Restaurant Manager, you are the right-hand of the Restaurant Manager and an important link between the management team and the work floor.
The total service team consists of approximately 80 employees. During your shift, you lead a maximum of 20 colleagues. You make a clear division of tasks, monitor progress, and ensure that everyone knows what is expected of them.
Even when the place is completely full, you remain calm. You set priorities, make clear decisions, and know how to lead the team through the busy periods with positive energy.
Your responsibility goes beyond running a good shift. You also keep an eye on revenue, staffing, workload, costs, and quality. In addition, you play an active role in guiding and developing employees.

You are an experienced hospitality professional who considers hospitality a given. You enjoy being at the heart of the team but can also step back to oversee the bigger picture.
You are approachable for colleagues, clear when necessary, and not afraid to take responsibility. A busy venue gives you energy, and especially during peak moments, you radiate calm and confidence.
Additionally:
